Who is CID?
CID Management is a private corporation, founded in 2001, which focuses exclusively on providing utilization and peer review services to support the workers’ compensation industry. With our web-based technology, we are able to work with physicians from across the United States. Wherever you have access to the web, you have access to us.
What is utilization management?
A general term which involves reviewing requests for authorization submitted by treating physicians in order to make a determination of medical necessity.
What is initial review?
A general term for the initial review of requests for authorization in order to make a determination of medical necessity, wherein the request may be approved if consistent with evidence based guidelines, but may not be denied.
What is peer review?
A general term for the physician review of requests for authorization in order to make a determination of medical necessity, wherein the request may be approved, modified or denied.
The decision must be consistent with principles of evidence based medicine, which includes evaluation of the request based upon: the clinical expertise of the reviewer, the applicable scientific literature or evidence based guidelines, and the unique history of the patient.
What are the advantages of being a CID clinical reviewer?
CID provides physicians the ability to earn additional income without having to extend practice hours or recruit additional patients. The work is stress-free, financially rewarding, and best of all, can be completed from anywhere you have access to high-speed internet.
Can I be a clinical reviewer and still work for my group/hospital?
We would recommend that you examine your contract and/or speak with your group practice or hospital, to determine if this is something they will support.
Do I have what it takes?
You must hold a current medical license (MD, DO, DC, DPM, RPT, L.Ac, Phd) and be domiciled in the U.S.
You will be working online using CID’s proprietary web site. This means that you will have to have consistent high-speed (cable/DSL/T1) internet access as well as a reliable computer.
You will need to have basic computer skills such as working with Microsoft Word and reading Adobe PDF files.
Your determinations will be read by claims examiners, patients, nurses, and physicians, so good writing skills are required.
What is expected of me?
You will be reviewing the case history and medical documents, and providing a written opinion on the medical necessity of the requested treatment plan. Your decisions must be consistent with principles of evidence based medicine. If required, you will need to contact the requesting provider by telephone to discuss the request and/or your determination within regular business hours.
We expect all providers to check their CID portal in-box on a regular basis and to respond to staff inquiries within a reasonable amount of time.
How much time does it take out of my day? Can I work after my normal hours?
As an independent contractor, you can set both your schedule and your desired work load.
How much do I make?
Pay rates depend on a number of factors, including such items as specialty and jurisdiction. During the process of evaluating your application, we will provide you with an anticipated rate of pay. Payment is structured on a time-spent basis.
Can I work for more than one UR Company?
CID does not request that you limit your services to our company; however, you would not be able to discuss the details of your work for CID with other UR companies.
Who are CID’s clients? (Who will I be working for)?
CID works for many types of clients including insurers, TPAs, self-insured employers, municipalities, and other government agencies.
